My new love for Audiobooks

One of the things I am grateful for in 2020 is the benefit of audiobooks. It taught me that at times when you can’t read enough or the availability of books are less, audiobooks and eBooks are a life savior. Until the mid of this year, I was not a fan of reading anything other than a physical book. For me the smell of a hard cover book is an essential factor. How much I enjoyed flipping through pages even though I might not be reading the book. But being an expat in a GCC country, where libraries are outdated and book stores are really expensive, I don’t have access to much books. I usually buy books during my yearly vacation to India and always have a list prepared ahead for the same. This year I didn’t had a chance for my annual book shopping. Thanks to Mr. Covid.
Well, necessity is the mother of invention. When the need for something becomes essential, we are forced to find ways of getting it. That’s how I started exploring eBooks which was very convenient with kids around. There are so many apps which provide free eBooks too. Although I like reading, I am just an average reader. When it comes to books, I am very picky. I don’t just grab whatever books or articles I get. So it was difficult to find something which is of my interest.

My quest continued and eventually landed in audiobooks which gave me few more options of my choice and I absolutely had the privilege to listen to some interesting books like Atomic Habits written by James Clear. That was definitely a life changer. I also enjoyed several other audiobooks which definitely shifted and shaped my thoughts.

People say when life gives you lemons make lemonade out of it. But why only lemonade? Why not lemon pickle or lemon pie. We have several options. We just have to look around and choose according to our convenience.
